VIIS hosted the Global Service Learning program for the participants of Cornell University for the ninth year consecutively. The group of 17 students was led by Donna Ramil, Associate Director, International Programs, ILR School, Joanna Bernatowicz & Terrill Malone, teaching assistants. The program combined academic sessions, immersion activities and service learning projects. The students followed four major courses on Culture and Civilization, Gender, Health Care and Labor Economics in India. Field visits to cultural sites, manufacturing industries and public health facilities helped the students connect with their classroom sessions. After the two week academic program, the students took up service learning projects at SVYM, GRAAM & other like minded organisations. The ILR students also had an opportunity to participate as Teaching Assistants in the Debate workshop which was conducted in collaboration with Cornell University.
